Sydney punish slack Glory Sydney FC won for the first time at home this season with a 5-2 victory against Perth Glory at the Sydney Football Stadium this afternoon. photo - perthglory.com.au | Glory shot themselves in the foot in only the second minute giving the home side a dream start. A poor back pass to David Tarka from Dino Djulbic was pounced upon by Alex Brosque and the striker kept his composure to clinically finish past Frank Juric at the Cove end of the ground. The goal was a bitter blow to the visitors who had started brightly, but David Mitchell’s side hit back with the equaliser on 12 minutes. A free kick from Brazilian import Amaral on the right picked out the unmarked Dadi in the six-yard box and he headed past Clint Bolton. With rain falling, the game took another twist on 21 minutes when Sydney midfielder Steve Corica was ruled to have brought down by Adriano Pellegrino and referee Peter Green had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Pellegrino was booked for the offence, and Glory defender Djulbic was incensed with the decision and was shown a yellow card for arguing the decision. Moments later referee Green showed a red card to the Glory defender when he appeared to spit at the official. Glory Coach Mitchell was fuming at Djulbic as he left the field, we will probably here more about the incident in the week, with the possibility of a long suspension. Back to the game, and when all the dust had settled Corica made no mistake with the penalty to reclaim the lead for the home side. With the extra man advantage Sydney began to dominate, on the half hour Terry McFlynn found Brosque on the edge of the box, but the former Queensland Roar striker fired wide. |
